I am a Sydney-based Artist. For many years, my focus was on painting the vast spaces of the Australian landscape, with a specific focus on light and colour. Experiencing the changing land in NSW and the Northern Territory provides me with a range of inspiration to develop paintings that aim to capture the spirit of the land.
Recently, I decided to challenge by immersing myself on the painting of flowers ; something I have wanted to do for a long time.
There were enormous differences from painting the landscape. This meant experimenting with new techniques, method and materials. Through using acrylics and inks to work ‘wet-on-wet’ on the canvas I have sought to capture some of the effects of watercolour. To paint flowers to me was to blow up their scale, while to paint landscape was to scale it down.
Painting is a process of discovering. I am happy with what I achieved so far and look forward to further developing my concepts and techniques.
